Anna Centenary library also known in Tamil as Anna Nootrandu Noolagam was inaugurated on 15th September 2010 which created a lot of news as it is the largest library of South Asia, which was set up at a cost of approximately 170 Crores, the library poses 9 floors (including Grounf floor) which is built on 8 acres of land, an amphitheatre on the terrace and the total number of books account to around 5 lakh at Anna Centenary Library in Chennai. Though all the 9 floors are currently not operational the main section such as Children's section, periodicals and newspaper section is already started functioning from the day one at the first floor.

Anna Centenary library has separate sections for English and Tamil books in Chennai for readers in each floor along with separate reading rooms and ample space for people to search for exclusive titles dedicated to Children books, Newspapers, Rare books, Photo library, Audio visual section and even it has Book shop and a food court too.

Anna Centenary Library is located at the Kotturpuram High Road also known as Gandhi Mandapam Road, Landmark is near J4 Kotturpuram police station, the library has ample parking space for both two wheeler and four wheeler which can easily accommodate any number visitors in a day.

Ground floor gives you a one stop information about the library and various sections started as of now and the future update on the other sections under progress. Kids can really have a good time here as the collection is huge for them to spend the whole day there with the colorful books for their learning and even computers and CDs can be seen which will serve to educate the children in the future as the membership for the public is yet to be started which I am sure will be a useful investment for every individual.

The ambience of the kid's section is worth mentioning as there is a huge artificial tree placed in the center which is surrounded by cartoon characters the kids love to be with and sufficient chairs and tables are given to sit, relax and read their favorite books.

The Library is equipped with the new technology RFID (Radio Frequency Identification system which will help in doing the self check of the books hired without any manual intervention, the state of the art infrastructure and the priceless books in these huge library is surely a new landmark of Chennai in Tamilnadu, moreover the library has security in place as it is totally covered with CCTV cameras which are approximately 200 in numbers. This library provided employment opportunity to around 500 people as employees there.
