A short Introduction of Sivaji Ganesan


He was the first and the greatest South Indian film actor who had won the 'Best Actor Award' in International film festival (i.e.Afro-Asian Film Festival), which was held in Cairo, Egypt in the year 1959. Due to his wonderful and realistic acting, he was admired and appreciated by so many people. He is also called as 'The Marlon Brando of South Indian Cinema'.

Sivaji Ganesan was born in a middle class family in a place called as "Villupuram" on 1 October 1927 to Chinnaiya Manrayar and Rajamani. His father worked in the South Indian Railway and his mother was a house wife. He had one sister, one elder brother and one younger brother. He started taking part in drama from his childhood and he had spent most of his times in it. It is because he is so much dedicated to the acting profession.
The name "Sivaji" was named by "E. V. Ramasamy" at one of the public function dur to his great stage play called "Shivaji Kanda Hindu Rajyam".

Acting Career of Tamil movie actor Sivaji


His first movie "Parasakthi" was released in the year 1952 in Tamil language. He had also acted in other languages like "Telugu", "Malayalam", "Kanada", "Hindi" and "Bengali". The script for his first film "Parasakthi" was written by our current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi. Sivaji is called as a great versatile actor beacause he had played multiple roles. Apart form this, he had acted as a supporting characters with many other leading actors. One of his famous film in his career was "Veerapaandiya Kattabom". A blockbuster movie 'Padayappa' was released in the year 1999. This hit movie was his last film before his death.

Death of great and honorable South Indian film actor Siavji


In the year 2001, on July 21 st he had got severe respiratory problem. Hence he was admitted to the "Apollo Hospital" in Chennai. But he died on the same day as he had been suffering from heart problem also. His funeral was attended by thousands of people which includes fans, politicians and other personalities from the South Indian film industry.

Sivaji married Kamala on 1st of May, in the year 1952. The couple had four children - two daughters and two sons. Daughters : Shanthi Ganesan and Rajvi Ganesan. Sons : Ramkumar Ganesan and Prabhu Ganesan. Prabhu Ganesan is also a famous actor and a producer. Ramkumar Ganesan is also one of the successful film producers in South Indian Film Industry.

He was awarded with "Padma Shri and "Padma Bhushan" which is the highest award to an Indian national. He had also received 'Chevalier' award in the year 1995. His statue was also erected at Chennai in Kamarajar Salai. His statue was opened by our Honorable Chief Minister "Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi" on 21.07.2006. His birthday is observed as 'Actors' Day'in Kollywood.
